Mississippi Critterz provides a transport service for the animals in the Oxford and Lafayette county community. This transport service gives homeless animals in our area a chance to be adopted into great homes in the Northern States. MS Critterz is partnered with many wonderful rescue organizations in the Northern parts of the US and within the Nashville, TN area. There are many ways you can help with our local transports!
MS Critterz sends canines and felines each month to various locations and organizations. We are always in need of our foster heroes for our animals that are awaiting transport. Foster terms are usually no more than 2 to 3 weeks, but we also get emergency short-term fosters that are needed for just a few days. We provide all supplies you will need for your fostering period, you just have to provide the love! If you want to be a foster, visit our Foster Home link to fill out an application!
We are always in need of donations! Since we provide the supplies for all of our transport fosters, we need donations to be able to do so! This includes, but is not limited to puppy pads, puppy food, dogfood, toys, treats, kitty litter, litter pans, kitten food, cat food, cat toys, crates, playpens, food/water bowls, etc. See our wish list for more details! Many of these things we are unable to recycle, so supplies run out fast! We also greatly appreciate monetary donations or gift cards!
We provide vaccinations and dewormer to all the dogs and cats that come into our care! Additionally, before transport, we must provide rabies vaccinations and obtain health certificates, required to be done by a vet to be able to transport to the receiving organization. Many of these organizations also require heart worm testing for dogs 6 months & older and FeLV/FIV testing for cats. Monetary donations are essential to meet the needs to keep our animals healthy and free of disease.
We also receive calls with an urgent case which involves sick or injured animals that need immediate vet care. Depending on what services are needed, vet care can be very expensive, but with your generous donations, help provide the necessary care these animals need! Donations can be made directly to the vet clinic the animal is receiving services, or you may make a donation via PayPal! All donations help save these precious lives to move on to live a life they so much deserve!
Volunteers play a vital role in helping get our furry friends ready to make their freedom ride! This includes walking dogs, getting crates ready and lined with puppy pads or litter boxes, name tags on animals and crates, and loading the van to get ready to make the drive! We also love for someone to take photos as we are getting ready to send our critterz to their new destination! All of our transports for our younger animals, we adhere to NPOG (No Paws on the Ground) rule to prevent illness.
Transport drivers are vital to our success! You can help by signing up to be a transport driver! You must be 21 years of age, have a valid driver's license, and proof of insurance. We have many shorter distance drives and longer distance drives! You can complete our Transport Driver application by clicking on the Volunteer link.
